The section of the IFs help system entitled Understanding the Model: Opening the Black Box is a very long and detailed section. It has images of dozens of equations developed by Dr. Barry Hughes and other members of the IFs team, with extensive text describing the nuts and bolts of how the IFs program functions. Luckily, the developer of the help system will not need to spend much time in this section. However, the equations in this section of the help system have from time to time been turned into text. Instead of a nice, clean image, the equations are turned grainy and difficult to read. Many are missing altogether. Why this has happened in the past is a bit of a mystery, and perhaps an enterprising developer of the help system can investigate why this happens.
The good news is that the problem is very easy to fix. It requires keeping a back-up version of the model on hand (which a good developer should always have), and copying and pasting the documents of that section of the back-up copy of the help system into the working copy. The list of documents that contain images of equations, and will need copying and pasting, is provided below. And, of course, make sure the back-up version isn’t suffering from the same ailment. If it is, contact Dr. Barry Hughes, who will find a copy of the IFs help system to use to replace the damaged images. The fact that this section of the help system changes so slowly is what makes fixing it so easy.
